Jill Loope joined the Roanoke County Department of Economic Development in September of 2000, and has served as Director since 2013. Bringing more than 28 years of professional economic, community and real estate development experience to the County, Ms. Loope leads a 3.5 member team in business attraction, expansion and redevelopment strategies.
Before joining Roanoke County, Ms. Loope served as Director of Economic Development for the City of Radford and Director of Development for Caroline County, Virginia, where she led the marketing, business attraction, and tourism development programs for each area.
Ms. Loope is a graduate of Radford University with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism/Public Relations, and a minor in business. She is also a graduate of the University of Oklahoma's Economic Development Institute and the Batten Leadership Institute at Hollins University. She previously served on the Virginia Tech Economic Development Advisory Board, and has been appointed to numerous economic development advisory councils by state and federal elected officials. Ms. Loope has held several leadership positions including the Virginia State Director for the Southern Economic Development Council, and she remains an active member of the International Economic Development Council and the Virginia Economic Developer's Association. She currently serves on numerous regional boards and commissions including the Western Virginia Workforce Development Board.
