Jay Brenchick joined the Roanoke County Department of Economic Development in October of 2015. His responsibilities include business retention, expansion, and attraction. He brings over twenty years of experience in economic and business development in the public and private sectors in Florida, New Hampshire, and Virginia.
Prior to joining the Roanoke County Economic Development team, Brenchick served as the first economic development manager for Botetourt County Virginia. While serving Botetourt County, Mr. Brenchick planned and implemented business expansion, retention, and recruitment strategies, as well as workforce initiatives. In Florida, he worked as the senior business development manager for the Economic Development Council in Manatee, County and handled all facets of economic development for the Council. While in New Hampshire Brenchick served as the first director for the Department of Resources and Economic Development - State Film and Television Office. His career as an economic developer has been complimented by the successful management of a manufacturing company and two financial services companies.
Mr. Brenchick is also actively involved with the International Economic Development Council, Virginia Economic Development Association, Roanoke Regional Partnership, Economic Development Council of Maine, Roanoke Valley – Allegheny Regional Commission, Western Virginia Regional Industrial Facility Authority, Roanoke Valley Broadband Authority, Chamber of Commerce activities and various other economic development committees and boards.
He is a graduate of the University of Maine with a major in journalism, minor in advertising, and masters degree in education. Brenchick has been trained in economic development from the International Economic Development Council, Economic Development Institute, Virginia Institute for Economic Development and CMSU Commercial Real Estate Program.
