October 1, 2004 Roanoke, Va. - The Virginia Economic Developers Association (VEDA) has awarded Terrie Cochran, Administrative Assistant for Roanoke County’s Department of Economic Development a scholarship to attend the upcoming Virginia Institute for Economic Development in Richmond Virginia.The Virginia Institute for Economic Development is designed to enhance all aspects of the economic development process including analysis of current economic trends, community preparedness for economic development, finance, marketing, workforce development and product development.
The VEDA has been increasing the effectiveness of those who practice economic, industrial, and community development in Virginia for decades, and provides input that helps maintain Virginia's leadership position in economic development. The organization also encourages continued education through state and national economic development organizations and promotes standards of professionalism and ethics within the economic development community.
Mrs. Cochran joined the Roanoke Economic Development Department in August 2003 as Administrative Assistant, bringing 14 years experience in public service. Serving in this position, she supports a five-member progressive and professional development team that is a recognized leader in the Commonwealth.
She is also responsible for departmental budget management and financial oversight, special event planning and coordination, and overall office management. She also serves as acting Secretary-Recording Clerk to County of Roanoke’s Industrial Development Authority. She resides in the County of Roanoke with her husband Phillip; she has two children, a son who attends the University of Virginia, College at Wise, and a daughter who attends Radford University.
